Zoe Saldana Explains How She Felt After Learning Gamora's Infinity War Storyline

The following contains major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War. You probably don't want to read this until you've seen it.

Avengers: Infinity War promised to be a major game changer for several characters. Possibly the character who saw the greatest, and most important change was Zoe Saldana's Gamora. Now, the actress has revealed that she knew from fairly early on what would be happening to Gamora, and while she was certainly shocked by the decision, she understood its necessity from a storytelling standpoint. I learned very early on. The producers called me and they told me. And of course there's a shock to your system. I'm so grateful, this run has been amazing, but you're so not even ready for that. But then once some of the things were discussed, I understood that it just makes sense. In order for you to understand the degree of evil that lies within the core of Thanos, you have to circle in on his own children. So I completely understood. I loved being a part of this unforgettable journey.

Of all the twists and turns that characters take over the course of Avengers: Infinity War, Gamora's may have been the most shocking. She accompanies Thanos to the location of the Soul Stone, where the stone's guardian, surprisingly, the Red Skull, reveals that to obtain the stone one must sacrifice something they love. Gamora at first sees this as a victory, as she believes Thanos loves nothing. Unfortunately, while she might not see his feelings toward her as love, Thanos does, and that's enough to make his sacrifice of Gamora worthy of obtaining the Soul Stone.

The moment is key to the events of Avengers: Infinity War as it shows just how off the deep end Thanos really is, since he's willing to kill somebody he loves in order to achieve his goal.

Zoe Saldana seems to be mostly ok with moving on, she has plenty more work to do after all, though her comments to the L.A. Times certainly make it clear that she'll miss her days in the MCU.

While the idea that characters would die was certainly a possibility in Avengers: Infinity War, few people probably had Gamora very high in the deadpool. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is one of the few Phase Four movies that we know is happening, and there was certainly an expectation that the core team of the first two films would be in the third.

While there's certainly a possibility that Avengers 4 could undo Gamora's death, it really feels like there will be a difference between those that died at the hands of the Infinity Gauntlet, and those that died via other means. It now feels that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 won't necessarily be the end of the original team, but instead the team dealing with the loss of one of its members.

Men In Black: International Goes To The Desert In Early Photo

For next year's reboot-quel of the Men in Black franchise, Men in Black: International, the agency that monitors and polices alien activity on earth is going global, taking a new pair of agents on a jet-setting adventure. The journey will take them far from the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple all the way to the heat of the Sahara Desert. Take a look below to see Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth's agents braving the heat in style.

These two look like they're posing for a fashion catalog here. Either that or they're about to break out a dance number since in her Instagram post, Tessa Thompson compares her and her co-star to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Then again, it's probably hard to dance with sand in your shoes. It is after all, rough and course and it gets everywhere.

But of course, as Men in Black, these two are in the business of saving the universe, and for some reason, Men in Black: International sees them heading to the desert to do so. Tessa Thompson has teased this setting for Men in Black: International before in an image that showed the actress, who plays Agent M, and Chris Hemsworth, who plays Agent H, climbing a dune while holding umbrellas, which may or may not have just been for the actors between takes.

We still don't know exactly what takes these two here in the film, but given the abilities of the Ford P.O.S. in the first Men in Black, I've got to think that the agency has better ways of traversing the desert than on foot. So I'm guessing that they get shot down or left in the desert to die by some adversary. And needless to say, they are not dressed for the occasion.

Tessa Thompson said that they lost the jackets for casual Friday, but jackets or not, it's time someone said it, the suit uniforms worn by the Men in Black are wildly impractical for the job they perform. They aren't a public-facing agency, so why are they dressed up so nice?

I feel like they're more likely to stand out than disappear in a crowd. And I've never chased down a Cephalapoid on foot, but I tend to think that dress slacks and dress shoes would not be my first choice if I wanted to be successful in such an endeavor.

Suits are simply not the best for mobility, unless of course there is some alien technology in them courtesy of our extra-terrestrial friends I don't know about. That might justify the attire.

Tessa Thompson's and Chris Hemsworth's agents will look more at home though in some of the film's other locales. In addition to filming in Morocco, Men in Black: International also filmed in New York City, London and Italy.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are joined in this film by Emma Thompson (returning to the franchise), Liam Neeson, Rafe Spall, Kumail Nanjiani and Rebecca Ferguson. While Disney's live action films from Marvel and Lucasfilm might be the biggest players at the box office for the company, as Walt Disney said, it was all started by a mouse. Animation is still a big part of what Disney does, and Walt Disney Animation Studios continues to release massive hits one after another.It's like Marvel Studios, just a bit smaller. Whether it's Moana or the recent sequel to Wreck-It Ralph, animated Disney films are still incredibly popular. When put them together with the billion dollar success of films like Zootopia, the last few years have been incredible for Disney.

We can only imagine what they're going to do next. Well, in many cases we have to imagine what they're going to do next because we don't really know, details are still mostly under wraps.. Although, in other cases, we know exactly what they're planning.

Walt Disney Animation Studio, not to be confused with Pixar, has several films announced to be coming over the next few years. Most of them are still being kept secret, but we have a few hints about what might be coming, and then of course, there's the big movie that we know for sure is on the way. Here's all the details we have about what we know is coming, and what seems quite likely, in the future of Disney animation.

Frozen IIThe only confirmed title from Walt Disney Animation Studios that we're waiting to see is a sequel to Disney's biggest animated hit, Frozen. In February of 2019 we finally got our first look at the project. The trailer is visually stunning, though it doesn't reveal a great deal about the plot of the movie itself. We see all of our heroes from the first film going on some sort of journey together. It also reveals a pair of brand new characters, though who they are, we still don't know.Release Date: November 24, 2019

Unknown Lin-Manuel Miranda/Byron Howard ProjectLin-Manuel Miranda, the hardest working man in showbiz, has said that following his work on Moana, Disney Animation chief John Lassiter introduced him to Zootopia co-director Byron Howard so that the two could begin to collaborate on another animated film. As of this writing, Miranda says the two have yet to actually talk, so it's not even clear if there's even an idea they'll be working on or if they'll be starting from scratch. It's also possible that whatever the two work on will never actually see the light of day, but with talent like these two, we're betting that we'll see it eventually.Release Date: Unknown

Zootopia SequelsNo sequels to Zootopia have ever been officially announced by Disney, but recently, Tom "Tiny" Lister, who had a small role in the original film, claimed that not one, but two sequels were being planned by the studio. It certainly wouldn't be shocking to learn this was true. Considering the the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph was rumored by the cast long before it was officially announced by Disney, it's certainly possible that's happened here as well. The original film made over $1 billion at the global box office and also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. That's a combination that practically demands a sequel.

Future Disney Animation Release DatesNovember 25, 2020November 24, 2021November 23, 2022Disney and the Thanksgiving weekend have been inseparable for a long time and with Disney's most recent update to its release schedule, it claimed that weekend for the next several years. While Frozen II decided to open a bit earlier, and now comes out the Friday before Thanksgiving, Disney now has the Wednesday before the holiday claimed for 2020 through 2022. No titles have been officially revealed, but the previously mentioned projects that are in some form of development could certainly be on that list.

Previously Released

Ralph Breaks The InternetAfter years of rumor an official announcement via Facebook that Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 was on the way finally came. While that news wasn't exactly news, because John C. Reilly had already blabbed, what was news, and surprising news at that, was that Wreck-It Ralph 2 was actually going to be the next feature we saw from Disney following Moana. It took over a release date that was already set aside for another movie, putting it in what we'll call the Zootopia space in 2018. However, it was eventually pushed back into NovemberRelease Date: November 21, 2018

Recently Cancelled Projects

Untitled Planes SequelNot every Disney project that gets announced actually makes it to the screen. Every once in a while the DisneyToon studio, which was promarily focused on television and direct-toDVD animation, was given a shot at a theatrical release. Such was the case with two previous Planes movies, which did pretty well all things considered. A third film in the series was announced and scheduled to be released in June of 2019, but in June of 2018 it was announced that DisneyToon studio was being completely closed down, and with it, the film was cancelled.

GiganticOriginally planned to hit theaters in the Spring of 2018, Gigantic was going to be Disney's take on Jack and the Beanstalk. It kept getting pushed further down the release schedule, falling into the Thanksgiving weekend of 2020 slot eventually. However, in October of 2017, Disney announced that the project simply wasn't working, and had been cancelled. At that point Disney confirmed that another project that had been in the works would be taking that slot, but we still don't know what movie that is.

The future of Disney Animation may be largely secret, but you can be sure that with the success the studio has had in recent years, Disney has every intention of keeping that train moving. With the success of Ralph Breaks the Internet, and the presumed success of Frozen II, it seems likely that more theatrically released sequels to Walt Disney Animation Studios films are quite possible.

When it comes to original concepts, the sky is the limit in animation, so it's basically impossible to guess what could be coming next.
