Ryan Reynolds Has Hilarious R-Rated Ideas For Detective Pikachu

Although Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is looking to appeal to as many demographics as possible (after all, the folks who enjoyed Pokemon when the franchise first hit the scene are all adults), naturally the movie is primarily being marketed towards younger moviegoers, hence why it has a PG rating. However, if churning out an R-rated Detective Pikachu movie was on the table, Ryan Reynolds has some ideas for such adult-oriented content. Reynolds said:

I think if you could remake a Pikachu version of Mean Streets, that might be kind of fun. Or Goodfellas.

Martin Scorsese-inspired Pokemon movies would definitely raise some eyebrows and get peoples attention. If the world of Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is anything like the Pokemon video game and anime worlds, then Team Rocket is running rampant, so its not that much of a leap to imagine them sending their Pocket Monsters to ensure their rivals are sleeping with the Magikarp.

Alas, Pokemon is a family-friendly franchise, so unless any of you are willing to write an R-rated fanfic of Detective Pikachu where bullets are flying just as much as lightning bolts are, were out of luck on the Mean Streets and Goodfellas-themed Pokemon movies that Ryan Reynolds suggested to Comicbook.com. However, thats not to say that Pokemon: Detective Pikachu isnt dipping its toes into more adult territory. Youll recall that in one of the trailers, Reynoldss Pikachu tells Justice Smiths Tim Goodman to get him the hell out of his cage fight with a Charizard.

Its also worth noting that after being hired onto Pokemon: Detective Pikachu, Ryan Reynolds considered taking the voice of his Pikachu in a different direction and offered to make the crime-solving Pokemon sound like an old-school, Columbo-style gumshoe. However, the Pokemon: Detective Pikachu politely shot Reynolds idea down, so instead Pikachu sounds just like the actor in everyday life, which the regular moviegoer can more easily recognize.

Of course, in a world full of creatures this powerful and humans calling the shots, naturally theres still going to be crime and danger. The main story revolves around this deerstalker-wearing Pikachu and Tim Goodman (who is the only human who can understand this particular electrically-charged mouse-thing) investigating the disappearance of Tims father, Harry. Along the way, theyll meet reporter Lucy Stevens (played by Kathryn Newton) and her Psyduck, and together theyll uncover a conspiracy that threatens all the Pokemon in the world.

So far Pokemon: Detective Pikachu has earned a fair amount of positive reception, and box office estimates from March placed it at making between $75-$90 million opening weekend. Looking to the future, a Detective Pikachu sequel is already in the works and theres the potential for this film series to evolve into a full-blown cinematic universe.

Bet you didnt know Keeping Up with The Kardashians matriarch Kris Jenner was part of the MCU back in the 90s anyway. Ahead of the release of Captain Marvel this Friday, Jenner has joined in on the promotion of the film with an unexpected and totally nostalgic advertisement that includes a run-in with Carol Danvers. Check it out:

Talk about random! Kris Jenner posted the video on her Instagram on Monday with the caption as a momager, I know talent when I see it before encouraging her 25.3 million followers to check out the movie in theaters this weekend. Who knew the social media influencer would be a last minute supporter to help the film go "higher, further, faster, baby" in its upcoming opening weekend?

The 40-second video sees Kris Jenner and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Lisa Rinna rolling up to Blockbuster video store in a swanky white convertible circa the 1990s. Jenner asks Rinna one question quite specific to the era did she rewind those VHS tapes? Rinna did not, stating she has better things to do think this hair does itself?

But suddenly, Carol Danvers falls out of the sky and through the ceiling of the Blockbuster, as teased in the trailers for Captain Marvel. This leads Lisa Rinna to drop her VHS rentals and Kris Jenner to show some concern for her friend. Rinna sees Carol in the store, as Jenner calls out for her to help her. At that point, Rinna pulls another hilarious one-liner: Im an actress, not a doctor!

Kris Jenner steps out of the car to see the new MCU lead and says I dont think she needs any help, what she needs is her own movie! as she pulls out a large 90s flip phone before cuts from the movie pop up to close out the advertisement.

Since Captain Marvel lands in Los Angeles, California in 1995, the mash-up with the reality television stars is a weird and cheesy though funny approach for the films ongoing publicity. During the movie's time period of 1995, Jenner was expanding her family her now 23-year-old supermodel daughter Kendall Jenner was born. Rinna was a soap opera star who had starred in Days of Our Lives and would soon find another role on Melrose Place.

Although Captain Marvel was recently plagued with trolls on Rotten Tomatoes prior to release, reviews (a.k.a. people who have actually seen the movie) have recently been published and the consensus is largely positive.

Captain Marvel follows Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, a former Air Force pilot who has become an intergalactic warrior with Starforce. Amidst a war between the Kree and Skrulls, she lands in 90s Earth (yes, in a Blockbuster) before meeting and teaming up with a young Nick Fury. You can apparently follow Kris Jenner and see the movie this Friday, March 8.

The International Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Has Different Footage

It's a big morning as we just received the first trailer for what is currently the last officially scheduled film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Far From Home. Both the North American and the International trailer hit the internet at the same time and while those two trailers are usually pretty close to identical, the international version of Far From Home gives us significantly different footage and even answers one question the main trailer leaves open. Check it out.

The first 30 seconds of the international trailer are completely different when compared to the other trailer. While the standard trailer opens with Peter and May at some sort of fundraiser and an awkward bit with Happy Hogan, the international trailer opens with Peter going through airport security in Europe. His bag is opened to reveal that May has tossed Peter's Spider-Man costume in his bag, which he almost forgot it.

This is interesting because in the other trailer, but not this one, we specifically see where Peter decides to not take the costume with him to Europe, wanting to simply have fun on his European trip.

This trailer also contains a number of different shots that don't appear elsewhere. They're mostly just establishing shots of Europe and Peter and Ned in an airplane, nothing that's going to spawn fan theories about what will happen in Far From Home, but if you're hungry for as much content as you can get, the trailer has it.

Though it's missing MJ's follow line to Peter where she tells him he looks pretty.

It also has Ned delivering a different line, or a different part of the same line, when he gets tranquilized by Nick Fury.

From the point where Nick Fury appears, confirming that, whatever else happens, at least one guy who got dusted by Thanos will return, the trailers basically fall in sync. We see Spider-Man swinging around Europe, we see him in a black suit, we see a giant water monster and the appearance by Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio, and seemingly as an ally to Spider-Man rather than his traditional role as a foe.

It's not uncommon for international trailers to give us new or different information, but that frequently happens when an international trailer gets released by itself, weeks or months after the domestic version. When the two come out side-by-side, they usually turn out pretty identical.

The international trailer likely wanted to spend more time focusing on the European setting, since that's one of the places that this trailer will be seen, as it might help draw in more viewers. That's assuming, of course, that "new Spider-Man movie" isn't going to do the job on its own.

Spider-Man: Far from Home hits theaters in July.
