New Netflix Movie From Nightcrawler Director Will Star Jake Gyllenhaal and John Malkovich

Having already co-written movies like Real Steel and The Bourne Legacy, Dan Gilroy made his directorial debut with 2014's Nightcrawler, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal as the sinister Louis Bloom. Nightcrawler was one of the quieter theatrical successes of 2014, its accolades including being nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. Now Gilroy and Gyllenhaal are prepping for their next movie (which is rumored to be called Velvet Buzzsaw) together, which will stream exclusively on Netflix. It was already announced that one of Gyllenhaal's costars would be Rene Russo, but now the rest of the main cast has been revealed, and John Malkovich can count himself among those ranks.

This will be Jake Gyllenhaal and John Malkovich's first time working together, but with the two of them being among Hollywood's best actors, it will be interesting to see how these two play off one another. While most of you reading are already familiar with Malkovich's word, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention a few of his credits, such as In the Line of Fire, Of Mice and Men, Dangerous Liaisons, Con Air and (of course) Being John Malkovich. But he isn't the only new addition to Dan Gilroy's next movie. Variety also reported that Natalia Dyer, Tom Sturridge, Daveed Diggs, Toni Collette and Zawe Ashton have joined the cast of this Netflix movie, which will be about "big-money artists and mega-collectors who pay a high price when art collides with commerce."

Natalia Dyer is best known for playing Nancy Wheeler on hit Netflix series Stranger Things, while her big screen resume includes Hannah Montana: The Movie and The Greening of Whitney Brown. Tom Sturbridge has appeared in movies like Being Julia, The Boat That Rocked and Mary Shelley, and he was also nominated for a Tony for his performance in the Broadway play Orphans.

After rising to prominence for playing Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in the original production of Hamilton, Daveed Diggs has gone on to perform in movies like Zootopia and Wonder, as well as TV shows like Black-ish and The Get Down. Toni Collette's resume includes The Sixth Sense, About a Boy, Little Miss Sunshine and the TV series United States of Tara.

Finally, Zawe Ashton many TV credits include her being one of the lead cast members on the British series Fresh Meat, while on the movies side of things, she most recently appeared in Nocturnal Animals. With these six actors joining Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo, Dan Gilroy's movie has the potential to be an intriguing ensemble piece for Netflix.

A specific release date for Dan Gilroy's next movie hasn't been announced yet, but with production now underway in Los Angeles, it's expected to be available on Netflix sometime later this year. To learn what else the streaming platform has on the way, scan through our 2018 premiere schedule.

The Men In Black Spinoff Is Eyeing Liam Neeson For An Important Role

The Men In Black Spinoff Is Eyeing Liam Neeson For An Important Role

Liam Neeson has built quite the resume of action-packed work, whether it's thriller movies like Non-Stop and The Commuter, or genre fare like The Phantom Menace and Batman Begins. Now it looks like he's close to adding another project to that latter category, albeit one more humorous than what he usually acts in, as Neeson is reportedly being looked at join the upcoming Men in Black spinoff as the head of MIB's United Kingdom branch.

After three movies of following Agents J and K fight alien threats who are menacing our world, the next Men in Black movie will follow a new duo of agents, but rather than be a full-on reboot, this movie will exist in the same continuity as the earlier Men in Black entries. Variety reports that Liam Neeson is currently in talks to play a character high up in the MIB organization, and if he signs on, he'll appear alongside Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Rip Torn's Agent Zed served as the head of MIB's United States branch in the first two Men in Black movies, and Emma Thompson's Agent O inherited his job in Men in Black 3.

The Men in Black movies have no shortage of science fiction elements, but they're also notable for being comedies. Liam Neeson doesn't dip his toes into that genre frequently, but when he does, it's often a treat. The last comedy movie Neeson had a starring role in was 2014's A Million Ways to Die in the West, but he also cameoed in 2015's Ted 2 and last year's Daddy's Home 2, as well as voiced himself in two episodes of Family Guy. Since Neeson would be playing the head of MIB's U.K. division in the Men in Black spinoff, presumably that means he'd be hanging out at headquarters and wouldn't be as involved in the more action-heavy beats alongside Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson's characters. Still, this is Liam Neeson we're talking about, so it'd be nice if we could see him take down an alien opponent, be it with a laser gun or his fists.

No plot details for the Men in Black spinoff have been revealed yet, but this new movie will reportedly be more of an ensemble piece and will be more global in scope, which explains why the MIB's U.K. head is involved in the story. The Fate of the Furious' F. Gary Gray is taking over directing duties from Barry Sonnenfeld, and the script was written by Iron Man duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

The Men in Black spinoff will be released in theaters on May 17, 2019, so keep checking back with CinemaBlend for updates on how it's progressing. For now, check out our 2018 release schedule to learn what movies are coming out later this year, which includes Liam Neeson's Widows on November 16.

In addition to Hemsworth and Thompson, Men in Black's spinoff boasts a strong supporting cast. Liam Neeson is heading up the London branch and will oversee the various agents. Kumail Nanjiani, meanwhile, looks to be the third member of Hemsworth and Thompson's trio, a wise-cracking alien sidekick.

Hasbro Already Reached Its Goal To Build The Most Massive Star Wars Toy Yet

Hasbro Already Reached Its Goal To Build The Most Massive Star Wars Toy Yet

While the Star Wars movies have always been done gangbusters at the box office, the franchise revolving around a galaxy far, far away has also accumulated a lot of money from merchandising, particularly toys. Since purchasing Kenner Products in the early 1990s, Hasbro has been churning out Star Wars toys, whether there's a new movie coming out or not. But last month, it was announced that Hasbro was launching HasLabs, a crowdfunding platform that raises money for the construction of sought-after niche toys for passionate Star Wars fans. Now it's official that HasLabs has raised enough money to construct the first of these special toys, and is the biggest one in all of Hasbro's Star Wars-related history yet: the Khetanna, more commonly known as Jabba the Hutt's sail barge.

Despite being an important vehicle/location in 1983's Return of the Jedi, Hasbro hasn't made a toy version of Jabba's sail barge before now, but thanks to surpassing its goal of 5,000 backers, each of whom paid $499.99 (plus tax), one is finally on the way, as you can see above. Measuring at approximately a little over 4 feet long and weighing nearly 14 pounds, the "Vintage Collection Jabba's Sail Barge" also has removal side panels that allow you to pose 3.75-inch figures within, like Jabba the Hutt and Yak Face, both of whom are included with the sail barge. You can head over to the HasLab webpage to learn more detailed information about this toy, as well as watch a video showing the sped-up process of how it was constructed. The sail barge also comes with a 64-page booklet called "Behind the Workshop," which goes behind the scenes into the development of the toy.

While Star Wars toys have had a frequent presence in toy stores and department stores basically since A New Hope was released back in 1977, not all of them necessarily sell well. In the case of this sail barge, it makes since that Hasbro has been unwilling to pour money into it until now since it would only appeal to a small group of Star Wars fans, namely collectors. However, we live in an age where crowdfunding can make projects that previously stood no chance of ever happening be fully realized thanks to passionate fans online. There are still a couple hours left to support the campaign for Jabba's sail barge, so if you have $500 laying around and want to proudly display this big toy in your home (and even reenact the battle that took place aboard it), head over to HasLabs now, though the Khetanna won't ship until February 28, 2019.

The Star Wars franchise continues next month with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story on May 25, with Episode IX following on December 20, 2019. Keep checking back with CinemaBlend for updates concerning these movies and the rest of the film series.
